It is vital that archives of all types of documents are kept safe, in some cases rescued from inadequate storage conditions or even worse they must be protected before they disappear in the shredder. The Friends have over the years supported the East Sussex Record Office, now based at the Keep, with donations, some large, some small to acquire these documents. With the excellent conservation techniques now available at the Keep even those in a very poor condition can now be restored. The Lady Teviot
